- A Work of Heart Studio's Summer sessions are offered Monday through Thursday with 3 times available (11-1, 1-3 or 3-5) for each session.
- Each session offers 8 hours of instruction for $120.
- Individual sessions may include a materials fee payable on Monday of your camp week.
- Camp sessions start June 6 and run weekly through August 25th. (No camp July 4th week)
American Girl Doll & Me Jewelry (July 25-28 1pm)
Create a jewelry and accessory wardrobe for you and your AG doll. Make hair accessories, necklaces, bracelets and a jewelry box to hold it all. ($25 materials fee)
Artful Journaling (June 6-9 1pm) (Aug 15-18 11am)
Start with an ordinary blank journal and add color, texture and design elements to your pages to create a visual journal. Learn hand lettering techniques, collage design principles and color theory. ($15 materials fee)
Assemblage Camp (June 20-23 11am)(Aug 8-11 11am)
Take bits and pieces from recycling, flea market finds, forgotten toys and games and turn trash to treasure in this workshop. The (low temp) hot glue gun is your best friend as you assemble sculptures then spray paint your new creations to unify your artwork. Create a clock from items commonly found in a hardware store (or in the garage). ($25 materials fee)
Bookbinding & Printmaking (July 11-14 1pm**Closed**) (Aug 1-4 1pm)
Create a mini library of books using traditional and non-traditional book making supplies and techniques. Fill some books with blank papers and others with papers you’ve printed using screen printing, gelatin printing, collograph printing, and block printing techniques. ($15 materials fee)
Clay Play (June 27-30 11am) (Aug 15-18 1pm)
Make polymer clay creations as you learn to make molds, canes and surface design. Turn your creations into many mini tiles for a mosaic frame, mirror or box. Create beads for jewelry and copper clay pendants. ($25 materials fee)
Collage Camp (June 27-30 1pm)(July 18-21 11am**Filled**) (Aug 8-11 1pm)
Make your mark by designing your own stencils and stamps, design your own papers with paints and inks. Turn your designs into collage papers, turn your collage papers into frame worthy art and a handmade art journal. ($25 materials fee)
Drawing
(June 6-9 3pm) (June 27-30 3pm) (July 25-28 3pm) (Aug 15-18 3pm)
Students will learn the basics of drawing, value, line and contrast, form, negative space & shading. Students will learn to use pen, chalk, pencil, charcoal, brush and other mediums to create their own style to be used in their desired application of their newfound skills such as travel journaling, animation, post cards, scrapbooking and collage. (Optional $25 Drawing Kit)
Fashion Jewelry Making (June 13-16 11am)
Create a fashionable accessory wardrobe including filled pendants, rings, bracelets, necklaces and headbands. You will explore techniques and materials including soldering (ages 12+), resin, metal clay, metal stamping, polymer clay, & wire wrapping. ($25 materials fee)
Green Crafting (June 6-9 11am) (Aug 22-25 11am)
Make books, jewelry, home decor, wearable art and more from items normally destined for your recycle bin. We call it “Upcycling”. Come have fun and be green.
Mixed Media (June 20-23 1pm) (Aug 1-4 11am)
Explore art techniques utilizing art metal, polymer clay, plaster, paint, fabric. Your finished piece will be a 14x14 stretched canvas sampler featuring mini works of art using these different mediums and techniques. ($25 materials fee)
Oil Painting
(June 13-16 3pm) (July 11-14 3pm) (Aug 1-4 3pm) (Aug 22-25 3pm)
Students will learn color mixtures, color values, preparing your canvas, painting from photos, setting up still lifes and paintings from other artists while keeping in mind design and a story. Beginning artists will learn some tips and tricks to create a finished painting. Most of all, we will have FUN!($15 materials fee)
Oodles of Doodles (June 13-16 1pm**Closed**) (July 25-26 11am)
Turn your doodles into custom stamps & screens for printing. Use your custom stamps & screens to create art cards, note pads, jewelry, a t-shirt and tote bag. It is all about making your personal art statement from a simple doodled drawing. ($10 materials fee)
Scrapbooking (July 11-14 11am**Closed**) (Aug 22-25 1pm)
Students will learn layout and design principles to use in creating eye pleasing scrapbook pages. Go beyond just pretty papers and pictures and tap into your inner journalist as you tell a story to accompany your photos to make a true memory book. ($20 Materials Fee)
Watercolor (June 20-23 3pm) (July 18-21 3pm) (Aug 8-11 3pm)
Have fun in learning techniques in water coloring that can be used in paper dolls, artist trading cards, greeting cards, travel journals, daily journals, sketching, drawing and tags. Take home a work of art each day. (Optional $20 Kit)
Young Writer's Workshop (July 11-14 11am) (July 11-14 1pm)
Aspiring writers will have the opportunity to hone their talents and fuel their creativity in a casual format that enables them to learn from each other as well as from the teacher. The stories and poems produced are collected into a book and presented to each participant at the conclusion of the week. ($10 Materials Fee)
