Location 2196 Lincoln Ave.
City San Jose
Description Date(s): Wednesday, June 16, June 30, July 14, and July 28
Start Time: 3:00 p.m.
End Time: 5:00 p.m.

Take your mixed media skills to the next level when we use fabric, paint, image transfers and many more techniques to make a quilted wall hanging. In the series of 4 classes we will develop a theme for a wall hanging (a tote bag or decorative pillow are also an option) and use various techniques to create a quilted work of art.

We will use Patricia (Pokey) Bolton’s The Quilting Arts Book and Art Quilts at Play by Jane Davila and Elin Waterston for inspiration. Your quilt can be as whimsical as the Birthday Cake Quilt on display in the studio, an exercise in abstract design, or whatever you can imagine. In addition to mixed media techniques basic quilt construction and quilting options will be covered.

Special Bonus: The week of 6/21 we will have a field trip to a local quilt shop, The Bobbin’s Nest in Santa Clara. On this day you will receive a 20% discount on your purchases at this fun fabric and yarn store.

Supplies Needed: Sewing machine, fabric scissors, straight pins, fabric marking pen, 4 X 12 quilting ruler, rotary cutter and cutting mat. One yard of white PFD (Prepared for Dyeing) fabric or One yard of white medium weight cotton fabric (MUST BE Pre-washed prior to 1st class); lots of small pieces of fabric in a variety of colors and patterns of your choice, some fabric will be provided.
