Quilting has been my passion for more than 38 years and I have taught nearly that long. The allure of color and shapes, a response to the tactile nature of fabric along with a genetic and emotional connection to my fore-mothers come together when I make quilts.
I really like scrap quilts and make many. The fabrics tell so many stories and bring back memories as well as feeding my need to use up what I have (and sometimes have a great excuse to buy more fabric)!
I sometimes describe myself as a split personality quilt maker, enjoying putting a contemporary twist to traditional quilts and also finding pleasure and challenge in contemporary and art quilts.
Since starting to teach in 1976 I have taught for Manteca Adult School, Merced College, Madera Adult School, in my own and other quilt shops, and for many quilting groups in California and in Virginia. While in Virginia I taught for 10 years at G Street Fabrics and Mid-Appalachian Quilt Conference. I recently taught on a cruise to Hawaii. What fun.
I hold a California Community College Teaching credential in sewing and needlecraft.
