The Bookmaker Collective - Ali Manning - Little LIbrary of Art Journals

Little Library of Art Journals

In the first Bookbinders Collective class, we will focus on book construction and create 4 blank mini art journals with decorative bookbinding stitches.

On Friday night (4pm-6pm PST / 7pm-9pm EST) we’ll prepare our signatures and book covers so that we can hit the ground running on Saturday (8am-3pm PST/11am-6pm EST) and sew our four journals. A variety of closure types will be demonstrated and in the last hour of the class, we’ll focus on fun techniques for decorating your journals.

The covers of our little books will be made from an amazing material called Kraft-tex that is as strong as leather but cuts and sews like fabric. Inside each journal, there will be 18 mixed media paper pages and decorative signature wrappers.  Once your journals are complete, use your favorite art supplies like acrylics, watercolors or inks to decorate both the outside and outside of your little library.

This is a good beginner class - if you can sew on a button, you can make these books. Full written instructions and printable sewing templates will be provided. If you’ve always wanted to learn decorative bookbinding stitches but don’t know where to start, this class is perfect for you.
